Millersburg ROSALIND and ROSALIND VT
MILLERSBURG ROSALIND and ROSALIND VARIANT
ROSALIND Interior of DOLPHINS Compote -
Green and Amethyst - 8.5 inch diameter.
ROSALIND 10 inch bowl in green and 9 inch Amethyst ROSALIND Plate.
Courtesy Seeck Auctions.
ROSALIND Interior of DOLPHINS Compote: This measures 8 ½ in diameter. Flattened somewhat, (the edges of the 9 plate do not appear to be absolutely FLAT), would create the amethyst 9 plate. One is recorded having sold in 1996 and 2010. A 9 green plate sold in 2003.
The 10 bowl, when flattened, would create the known marigold 11 plate in Rosalind pattern. A Dolphins compote may be viewed in MILLERSBURG STEMS segment.
Green ROSALIND Compote interior.
Green ROSALIND Compote - 6 inches tall.
Marigold ROSALIND tall Compote - Interior.
Marigold ROSALIND Compote - 6 inches tall.
ROSALIND Tall Compote: Since we own the marigold compote having the marigold stem, we have accurate measurements. It stands 8 ¼ tall, has a bowl diameter of 7 ½ and 9 panels in the base/stem. This is said to be the only one known in overall marigold. You may read about the single-known Rosalind tall compote having a clear stem and base in our MILLERSBURG Part 7.
There is a 6 tall Rosalind compote known in amethyst and green. You can view an example of this in our GREAT GREEN segment.
ROSALIND Variant - Amethyst - Courtesy Seeck Auctions.
ROSALIND Vt. Compote Interior - Green.
ROSALIND (VARIANT) Compote: Although we contributed several items for Maries Millersburg Glass Book, published in 1995, somehow this Variant eluded print. Our green example stands 5 tall, has a bowl diameter of 7 1/8, a smooth outer bowl, and a stem having 6 panels. Amethyst and green are known colors. 4 amethyst compotes have sold since 2008; the last one in 2010. 7 green examples sold between 2007 and 2012. You may also read about this compote in our MILLERSBURG STEMS segment.
A NEW Rosalind Vt. compote in Amethyst.
(NEW) ROSALIND Compote: This was sold over eBay in early Aug. 2014 and sent to us for identification. It appears that the original interior mould used for the Dolphins compote has been acquired by a manufacturer who utilized a different exterior mold to create this variation. It appears to have been made by perhaps Westmoreland?..........or another of the manufacturers of nice glass.
Peacocktail Compote - Green.
PEACOCKTAIL Compote: Fenton Peacocktail compotes have panels which begin on the base and follow up the stem and over the exterior of the bowl. Measurements are 6 ¼ high, with a 4 ¾ bowl width.
We feel confident that as you examine this Fenton pattern and closely compare it to the Millersburg Rosalind and Rosalind Vt. designs, you will agree that there are significant differences.
Peacocktail 9 inch plate in Marigold.
PEACOCKTAIL 9 Plate: The overall pattern on this plate is the same as seen on the smaller compote, 7 bowl, and bonbon produced by Fenton Glass Co. These 9 plates are quite rare. 2 sold at auction in 2009, 1 in 2010, and 1 in 2011! No matter the shape, the design offers little resemblance to Rosalind and Rosalind Vt. in detail!
Dean & Diane Fry, Sept. 2014
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you,
and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven,
for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?
It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand,
and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
(Matthew 5:11-16)
