DON GRIZZLE and HIS NORTHWOOD JARDINIERE

Most Bears are noted for staying in their own woods. The Frolicking `Bama  Bears, Don & Lynda Grizzle, may be the exception to that rule! It's not unusual for them to drive over a 100,000 miles a year just looking for Carnival Glass!

One trip had them checking out the antique malls and stores in Indiana. Mrs. Bear had been riding for 6 straight hours and was more than ready to stop! She said “let's get off at this exit and check out the antique shops.” Pa Bear, semi-enthused but willing to humor his wife, made the necessary exit.

They got out and went to 3 antique stores looking for carnival Glass…but came up zip!!!!! Pa Bear not really wanting to have stopped in the first place said, “Let's go!!!” Lynda said, “what about that shop we were told about that has all the carnival? It's only 2 blocks from here!!!” “Maybe next time!”, he said.

They both got in the truck and took off. Starting down the exit Lynda stated, “DON, I AM RRREALLY NOT READY TO GO BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN.” Don looked at his wife in astonishment. As the CHEVY truck proceeded at a rapid speed down the ramp he said, “What do you expect me to do now…….turn around???!!!!!”
“Affirmative.”

The Bear made the necessary turns and convolutions to return back to Chesterton's Main street and then continued to drive to this other antique shop.  His German jaw stuck out about 4 feet. If he had been walking he would have tripped on his pout!

When he pulled in front of the shop, the “normally polite…open the door for his wife” PA Bear-jumped out of the truck and lurched up the steps and through the screen door of the shop. Lynda unfastened her safety belt, leisurely slid out of the seat and headed for the shop's door. Imagine her amazement to hear her hubby happily say, “I'll take it!!!”

She warily peeked over his shoulder. She was stunned to see a fabulous NW TREE TRUNK jardinière in purple.

When Don finished paying for his treasure and they had resumed their trip back on the road….he said with a sheepish grin that he was very glad she had insisted BOTH TIMES…to check out Chesterton. He NEVER expected to own this piece of glass ever in his life. He had looked at it in a book for 30 years…and NOW he had one!!!!
