Helios - Part 5

Imperial Glass Company is the only manufacturer known to have advertised and promoted this specialized color, therefore we believe that while some collectors do not give it much credence, it requires some attention directed to its importance in the world of carnival glass.

BEADED BULLSEYE: Iridescent quality on these vases is usually extraordinary! 6”-14” in height, helios and amber examples are difficult to locate! Top honors go to the very few cobalt blue vases in this pattern.

IMPERIAL GRAPE 9” Master Berry, collar base bowl: Helios is easily located both in the larger and small size berry bowls.

IMPERIAL GRAPE 4”-5” Mould shape bowl: This is the only helios example we have ever seen in this shape.

IMPERIAL GRAPE Spittoon shaped bowl: This is a whimsey shape made from the 8”-9” bowl mould. Marigold and helios are the only two colors reported and both are extremely rare.

IMPERIAL GRAPE 6” plate: A wide variety of colors available in this shape, but helios happens to be a scarce color.

IMPERIAL GRAPE Cup and saucer: This is one of few true cup and saucer sets known in vintage carnival glass. The saucer shape is interestingly flat with a turned up edge as you see in the photo. A Smooth Rays design exists on the interior of the saucer. The cup is the same as used for the punch cup. It is very rare in helios.

IMPERIAL GRAPE Wine Set.

IMPERIAL GRAPE Water Carafe: -- with a flare! Certainly this is within the whimsey classification! Perhaps the handler could not maintain the usual flare found on these containers? There is no stopper for these in their usual shape. Helios is a scarce color for the carafe and in the case of this very unusual top, we might say it is a one-of-a-kind.

IMPERIAL GRAPE Stemmed Wine: 4” in height, these are quite available in helios.

IMPERIAL GRAPE Wine decanter and stopper: A word of caution here. The stoppers are hollow. It is best to purchase a complete decanter because the stoppers are most difficult to locate. These sets should not pose much problem to locate in helios color.

IMPERIAL GRAPE Punch Set: No too difficult to find in helios. It certainly is a “must have” for any helios collector. This is a prime example of “Goldgreen” Imperial!

PARLOR PANELS: Vases in the 8”-12” and 12”-14” sizes are found in helios. Helios is the rarest color in either size range.

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.
