Hatpins - Part 4
HATPINS - Part 4
No one can say with certainty just when the manufacture of hatpins began and ended. The days of ladies wearing large brimmed hats came about long before carnival glass production came to be in the early 1900s. Conclusion is that with fashions requiring headdress to match the long dresses worn in the 1800s, Europe was manufacturing elegantly designed hatpins to accompany that trend. Certainly, hatpin holders were among the earliest contributions from manufacturers of carnival glass within the United States, beginning in 1907. Prior to that era, many holders were produced by china manufacturers.
