Fenton Red - Part 3
FENTON RED - Part 3
No other manufacturer of carnival glass produced as many patterns and shapes in red carnival glass during the rather brief period during the 1920's when the color was in fashion with the buying public. Anyone who collects that color will attest to the fact that there are several degrees variation in the red examples. Cherry red is the most desirable shade, but in fact, some pieces tend toward the very dark slag effect, while others will have lighter areas of amberina. When fired once too often, a silvery finish overtakes the iridescence. As compared to many of the other colors produced in identical patterns, red items do not present themselves at auction very often, resulting in some fantastic prices.
