1911 Butler Bros. Ad: Vineland was still being used as the marketing name for Grape & Cable, although it had been in production since 1910.
For more than 40 years of collecting, this pattern has been synonymous with Northwood; the most consistently popular over the field of collecting desires, and certainly offering wider variety of shape than most other patterns! More than 70 different shapes were successfully marketed, along with some whimsey type offerings, which are always attractive to buyers.
BERRY SETS: Are found having large raised thumbprints around the lower portion. Pattern is found on the exterior surface. Large bowl is 10 - 10 ½; small bowl - 5-6. Amethyst and marigold are standard, with green more difficult to locate. Cobalt blue is scarce, pearlized custard is rare, and ice green is very rare.
Ruffled sets have the pattern on the interior. Shaped from the same mould used for the ice cream set, they have no thumbprints. Exterior design is Basketweave. Large bowl measures 11 - 12; small bowl is 5- 6. Amethyst and marigold are seen most often. Green is more difficult; cobalt blue is scarce. White, ice blue, and ice green are rare indeed.

1918 Butler Bros. Ad: Confirms use of carnival glass items to promote sale of hollow ware. Notice the large bowl sitting in the handled basket, as well as an ice cream bowl atop a metal base, forming a compote.
11 Ruffled BOWL: is from the same mould used to create the large size ice cream bowls. Marigold, amethyst, green, lavender, ice blue, ice green and cobalt blue are possible colors. It is safe to say that there are more ice cream bowls than those which have been ruffled as this white example.

Scarce Green GRAPE & CABLE IC Bowl - 11 inch

ICE CREAM bowl, large, 10- 11: Collar based with Basketweave exterior. Round, shallow, nearly flat with plate-like feature having only the edge turned up 1 -2 all around. Quite desirable among collectors! Marigold, amethyst and white are not difficult to find. Green or lavender are not so easily located. Cobalt blue is rare, with ice blue and ice green quite rare.
ICE CREAM bowl, small, 5- 6: Pattern and shape characteristics match the larger bowl. Exasperatingly difficult to locate in any color. Marigold, amethyst, green, cobalt blue, white, ice blue, and ice green examples are known.

SHERBET, pedestal footed: These small dessert cups have thumbprint exterior and measure about 5 in diameter. Not too difficult to find in the known colors of marigold, amethyst and green.

TUMBLER Whimsey - (hat): The flare on these will vary somewhat, giving rise to the question of whether the taller 4 ¼ size tankard tumbler having a more widely flared top edge than the standard size tumbler, was used for these whimseys? If that is that case, it presents good reason that it is so difficult to locate tankard size tumblers in marigold, amethyst, green and ice green.
