This may be a last look at the once thriving Westmoreland Glass Factory. Following Tom Strong's submission of the 270 photos, more than 36 hours were required to create this site.
I found a discussion site online where there was an ongoing debate about demolishing what is left of the Westmoreland Factory. The people in town of Grapeville, PA think the site is a hazard and an eye-sore. Beacon Properties owns the site, but says it would cost $64,000 to demolish the existing structures. Some want to preserve it as a historical site, but it is too far gone for that. We shall see what happens. Anyway, this could very well be the last look at the Westmoreland Glass Factory if the town has its way.

Diane and I truly thank Donna for her dedication to task in preparing this new site. She shares our intense interest in providing background history of the beautiful iridized glass which has been manufactured in these United States, and around the World, for that matter!
Picture captions are based upon knowledge gained from experience in my work with Corning Glass, along with observations at Fenton Glass, including many discussions with Frank M. Fenton. Should any of our viewers have corrections to any of my conclusions, please feel free to extend your abilities. We're always open to discussion. Learning is a shared passion. No individual has all the answers.
Identification and typing of this portion consumed an additional 20+ hours. We sincerely trust that viewers will benefit from this presentation. Tom Strong did not elaborate on the hours involved in his trip to the site, and the precision illustrated in the photographs. He deserves tremendous credit for his sincere interest in sharing this fading memorial to a bygone era. We are viewing disappearing history!

What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor---it is the gift of God. I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it.
God does it, that men should fear before Him. That which is has already been, and what is to be has already been; and God requires an account of what is past.
